A celebrated music star and Melbourne-based saxophonist might be heading to prison after he admitted he sexually assaulted four young girls.

The man identified as Yi "Allan" Yang touched four young girls inappropriately and kissed some of them during music lessons when their parents weren't around.

According to AAP, he told one of the girls it was their "special time" together and not to tell anyone, the Melbourne Magistrates Court heard on Friday.

Twice, Yang stated: "You look like my wife."

However, the 51-year-old has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of indecent acts against a child under 16. Magistrate Johanna Metcalf adjourned the case for further argument, saying it was very serious offending.

"He is looking at an immediate jail term," she said.

Speaking about the matter, Yang's barrister, Shane Gardner, admitted that there had been a breach of trust and all Yang's young and vulnerable victims were deeply affected by his crimes, which took place over a protracted period. He agreed that Yang who is well-educated and had achieved star reputation through his musical talents was the architect of his own misfortune.

"He has to live with that now for the rest of his life," Mr Gardner said. Yang, of Kew, is due back before the court on August 5. He has no prior convictions.
