I reported it here yesterday that Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo who plays his football in Watford in the English Premier League, announced the death of his father, Paul Ighalo who died peacefully in the early hours of Monday after he complained of feeling weak.

Pa Ighalo, who died on Monday, has been buried on the same day according to his wishes. Family members disclosed that the 90-year-old man had asked his family not to keep his remains in the mortuary as he wants to be buried immediately after his demise.

To honour his wish, his family members after he was certified dead, moved his body from their family compound at number 58 Salami Street, Green Land area of Ajegunle, Lagos State to his village, Agidigbo Imadu in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State where he was buried on the same day.

Speaking about his father’s death, Odion’s brother, Daniel Ighalo, said: "My father was in his late 90’s and never complained of being sick.

"When in the early hours we were told that he had taken ill, a nurse from the Faithland Hospital came around to attend to him before he gave up the ghost. We were all shocked because nothing was wrong with him.

"On Monday morning when people knew he was late, our house was a sort of Mecca until his corpse was moved to Edo State.

"His last request was that he never wanted to be kept in the mortuary but to be buried immediately in his village and that had been done in his honour."

The family has also confirmed that a formal wake keep and final burial rites will be held later in the year.
