A suspected criminal has been sent to his untimely grave following a mob action that has become a trend in Nigeria.
A man was burnt to death just a few days after a similar incident occurred at Emede community in Isoko South Council Area of Delta State.
Finding by a Punch correspondent revealed the man was a suspect robber. This awry incident took place at the early hours of Wednesday at Isoko quarters along Enerhen road in the Uvwie Council area of the state. So far, about 5 suspected criminals have been lynched in the state in less than a month despite condemnations from security operatives.
The victim was said to be in his early twenties and a bus conductor. He was alleged to be a member of a five-man armed robbery gang terrorising residents of the area.
Eyewitnesses told a correspondent that the mob apprehended him after his gang had successfully snatched a commercial bus belonging to a police officer along Enerhen/Udu road of Uvwie.
The suspect was apprehended when he reappeared in the area. He was said to have been stoned to a state of coma before he was set ablaze by the mob.
Information has it that about seven youths suspected to be members of the mob were later arrested by officers from the Enerhen Police Division.
The Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, SP Celestina Kalu, said she had not been briefed on the incident. She promised to investigate and get back to a correspondent.
The general public are again being urged to desist from such actions that interfere with the judicial process.
