More Details of the Auto Crash that Killed Army General Who Led War Against Boko Haram

The Buhari-led federal government of Nigeria witnessed yet another shock yesterday as an Army general in the frontline battle against insurgency, lost his life to a car crash. More details of the accident has now emerged.
 
I reported it here yesterday that a Nigerian Army General, Major Gen. Yusha'u Mahmood Abubakar, who led fight against Boko Haram, died in a car accident on the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, according to Army spokesman, SK Usman. 
According to a new report which revealed more details of the accident, the late Major General was accompanied by Brigadier General Muhammed Aliyu who was injured in the accident on an official assignment when their car crashed a few kilometers away from Benisheik, along the Maiduguri-Kano highway, while en-route to Yobe State.
 
Military source disclosed that Abubakar was received by Aliyu at Maiduguri International Airport. The generals were on their way to a special military force graduation in Buni Yadi, Yobe State.
 
After the car crash, Aliyu was rushed to the emergency ward at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
 
Abubakar Ali the Yobe State Deputy Governor, offered his sympathy to the family of the late general and the Nigerian Army on behalf of the people of Yobe State. He described the loss of Abubakar as a great loss for the military and Nigeria.
 
"Our hearts are grief with the family of the late General and the Nigeria Army. This is not just a loss to the family but the nation," Ali condoled.
 
The late general was the Theater Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri before he became Director of Military Training at the Defense Headquarters in Abuja.
