I Steal Because I Derive Pleasure from It - Suspect Confesses

A notorious armed robber caught by the police in Lagos state has revealed why he cannot stop stealing which has become an addiction.

An armed-robber arrested by operatives of Rapid Respond Squad, RRS, in Lagos has shocked newsmen when he said he steals because it gives him pleasure. The twenty-eight years old suspect identified as Babatunde Ibrahim confessed that he had stolen over hundred mobile phones.

He said, “The act of stealing has become part of me. I am a specialist in burgling people’s houses. I used to gain entrance into any house by breaking the door or cutting window net with a razor blade. I derive pleasure in taking what does not belong to me.”

“Apart from burglary, I also operate during traffic jams, especially on Ikorodu Road, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and Apapa-Oshodi Expressway. The last operation I went for was at Ilupeju where luck ran out on me. I stole two Nokia phones, one BlackBerry and other valuables. The receivers of the phones I stole are Sanni (Azeez) and Hakeem (Kamoru). They live on Akala Street, Mushin.”

Ibrahim revealed that he started stealing since childhood and cannot stop the act because it has become a part of him. Ibrahim was apprehended in Ikeja. He further revealed that he has people who have already booked his stolen items each time he goes for robbery. He named them as Sanni Azeez, 27, and Hakeem Kamoru,40, who live at Akala Street in Mushin.
